Thanks for checking out my blog and newest adventure! For those of you who don’t know me yet, my name is Carrie-Ellen and I’m a mom of 3 and a former Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse, now working as a professor researching human milk and infant health. When I’m not working you can find me planning weekend adventures, getaways, and vacations for my family. After my family, traveling and adventure are my biggest loves!

Before kids, my husband and I traveled a lot (fun fact: we took a 3 ½  week honeymoon to New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, and Southern California) and we have always wanted to keep adventuring with our kids both near and far. We’re always looking for weekend adventures around us and before the pandemic hit, you could also find us on a plane at least twice a year (and often many times more!). We have 3 little boys (5, 2, and 2 months) and our goal is to continue to travel the world as a family. While vacations and day trips look quite different with kids, we love the adventure and memories and are excited to share our experiences with other families.     

My vision for this blog is to share everything from local day trips and weekend getaways, to national and international vacations. Whether it is what we are doing or where we are going, we hope this blog helps take a little guesswork out of getting out of the house and starting your own adventures! We love the outdoors and you will probably find us hiking, boating, looking for animals, and finding the best ice cream and donuts wherever we go. We love exploring beautiful places both near and far, finding good food and drinks wherever we are, and making memories that our boys will cherish as they grow.

One of my barriers to adventure lately (other than the pandemic of course) has been time! If we are going to try out a new location for a day trip, we want to be able to make a whole day of it with multiple stops. But working full time and raising little kids often leaves me with little time to plan, and when I search for what I am looking for I never really find exactly what I want. So, my hope is that planning and documenting our adventures will help you and your family find fun ways to get out and about, whether it is the next town over or across the world!

I hope that we will inspire local families looking for day trips and weekend getaways, as well as all families looking for family travel tips and destinations.

After a year of no real “travel,” we are so excited to jump into 2021 with getaways planned for almost every month (both near and far!). I can’t wait to share our experiences so when you are looking for something fun to do, you have just the place to turn.
